David Isaksson

Managing director, author, project coodinator, writer/editor, photographer. Co-founder of Global Reporting in 1996.

David Isaksson started his career in 1981 as a free lance journalist focusing on Latin America and other regions of the world. During the 80’s he worked for The Swedish broadcasting company and several leading Swedish magazines and newspapers. He also wrote several books on Latin America.

From the late 80’s he gradually started covering other parts of the world as well, doing regular visits to Asia, Africa and Eastern Europa/Central Asia. In 1996 David Isaksson co-funded Global Reporting, the only Swedish communication consultancy company working exclusively with development and global issues.

As Managing director of Global Reporting is chief account manager for several of Global Reportings clien, including SIDA, Plan Sweden, The city of Stockholm and the _Olof Palme International Center.

Being the managing director does not mean that David Isaksson has stopped worked in the filed. On the contrary, every year he spends at least 100 days on assignments outside of Sweden, both as writer/photograher and as communication consultant.

The work of David Isaksson includes the following recent assignments:

  • Project coordinator (together with Kina Robberts) for Sida’s “Balticum Week” project. Editor of the book that will be published prior to the conference.
  • Writer of study on the Brazilian labour (together with Jan Ravel market for Labour Market Dialogue, Sweden.
  • Author of the Book Resa med barn (Travel with children.)
  • Project coordinator (together with Kina Robberts) for environmental communication project between the city of Stockholm and Tegucigalpa (capital of Honduras)
  • Information strategy advisor and project coordinator for SAREC, Research department within Sida.
  • Strategic Consultant for Plan Sweden in the preparation for the conference HIV – Hope Insight Vision. Strategic Consultant and copy writer for the Olof Palme Internatinal Centre campaign Global Respekt. Consultant (including field visit to Brasil) for Labour Market Dialogue. Dialogue partner for the International Square at the Gothenburg Book Fair.
  • Writer of various booklets in international issues for The Swedish Labour union, Social Democratic Party and the Olof Palme International Center.
  • Member of steering committee for the International Square at the Gothenburg Book Fair.
  • Consultancy service on strategic communication for Plan Sweden.
  • Co-ordinator for a project on the Lake Victoria region, involving information production and media analysis.

Over the years David Isaksson has visited and written about some 90 countries al over the world. He is the author and/or editor of more than 15 books and various booklets, the latter published by the Foreign Affairs institute in Stockholm.
