Media workshops in Kurdistan
Global Reporting organized three workshops for 45 Kurdish journalists in Iraqi Kurdistan in November. The topic was how to make water big news. The training was made in cooperation with the Erbil Water Directorate and the Independent Media Centre in Kurdistan. The participants were leading journalists from Erbil, Dohuk and Sulemaniya. The workshops are part of a major project to improve the water situation in Kurdistan through public awareness activities.

How can Civil Society and Communication strengthen Transparency and Accountability?
During EDD Global Reporting organized a seminar, in cooperation with BearingPoing and Revenue watch on how communication can be used as a tool to strengthen transparency and accountability in donor-financed programmes, as well as in the management of revenues from the extractive industries in Africa. Global Bar 23/10: Europe special during EDD
Global Reporting organized a special Global Bar in conjunction with a concert as one of the major outreach events during EDD. An open and lively discussion on Europe and the global development took place in the venue Nalen in central Stockholm.
Global Bar was followed by concerts with Zap Mama, Mokoomba, Simone Moreno och Mary N'diaye! In collaboration with Sida, Selam and Riksteatern.
A new assignment for Global Reporting in Iraq
Global Reporting has been contracted to implement the communication in an extensive water project in Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region in Iraq. The project is financied by Sida and led by the Swedish NGO Qandil, who has been working in Iraq since 1992. The Swedish engineering consultant company SWECO has been contracted since 2008 to perform the technical components of the project.
