Meanwhile, back in Zambia…

Africa – we all know what it is like, don’t we? Images of poverty, dependence and desperation have shaped our view of an entire continent. But is that all there is to say? We at Global Reporting decided to find out for ourselves. We went to Zambia and the result is the book “Meanwhile, back in Zambia” – a scrapbook, a collage, and maybe a point of departure for reflections about how journalists portray other countries and cultures. “Meanwhile, back in Zambia” was produced (all text, all photos, all design) during eleven days in Zambia and another eleven days back in Sweden. Are you ready to challenge your prejudices? Please contact us if you would like to buy the book.

New co-operation with SPIDER

We have recently produced an information package to the Swedish Program for Information and Communication Technology in Developing Regions, SPIDER. ICT4D is a new and highly dynamic field of development co-operation, and stands for Information and Communication Technology for Development.

The information package we made includes a brochure, a folder, quick screens and a strategy document. We wanted to mediate a soft and human profile of the type of activities that SPIDER is dealing with. We focused on people who use technology and those who work within the projects. Texts produced by David Isaksson. Graphic design by Lisa Jansson. See the whole brochure here. Read more about SPIDER here.

Commmunication for development at
Global bar

Exchanging ideas and experiences with others is one of the driving forces in our work. Global Bar is an easy going gathering for people working in an international context, taking place in Stockholm roughly once a month. In an informal setting together with inspiring speakers the participants get the chance to exchange ideas and discuss important issues.

In June 8 2006, before the summer’s break we had our last gathering featuring “Communication for development” together with the Master Course in Communication for Development under the supervision of the University of Malmö. You can follow the interesting debate, which took place by clicking here . Go to "Live Lecture: archive" and you'll find the seminar.
