The Global Forum on Civil Society Law, the only global event that focuses solely on legal issues relating to civil society, ended after three full days of activities.
230 enthusiastic delegates from more than 80 countries –from Afghanistan, Argentina and Armenia to Uganda, Vietnam and Zimbabwe – gathered in Stockholm where they got an opportunity to network, learn and share experiences. The vast majority came from NGOs, but participants also included representatives from different governmental institutions, academic establishments and law firms.
Among many topics, the delegates discussed how the civil society can deal with legislations that try limit their scope of work and how the social media can be used to inspire and increase participation and involvement. The conference was organised by Global Reporting at the Hotel Clarion Sign and the assignment also included a production of a six-minute film containing interviews of participants. The film was recorded and edited by a freelance journalist Thomas Johnsson, and was shown during the closing ceremony.
